They crash-landed but the bomb load went off. At that time, USAF B-57 crews rotated from Clark to Da Nang 60 days at a time. There were two USAF squadrons, one would go to Da Nang, the other would replenish/rest/retrain at Clark and every 60 days they'd switch places.
